M. Ward - Post War

This album is absolutely amazing. How he could improve the recipe from 2005's Transistor Radio is beyond me but he does. I'd say the difference is -- and this is hard because I only have the vinyl of T.R. -- that the new release is not afraid to be crystal clear. The electric guitar playing really comes out front and the drums are not afraid to bring up the bottom.

So much to like here... "Requiem" is a song for the ages. The instrumental "Neptune's Net" astounds. The kids really like "Magic Trick", which is kind of like "Big Boat" from T.R. This album is magical 40 minutes. Wouldn't change a single thing.
