The Quiet American

I watched this shorty after seeing Marlon Brando's 1963 film "The Ugly American", which I liked better. Michael Cain and, surprisingly, Brendan Fraser were decent enough.... I just don't think "The Quiet American" wound up wherever it was supposed to go.   read more »

The Kid

We are getting hopelessly addicted to Charlie Chaplin films. The man was a TOTAL genius, plain and simple. Not only is he the main actor, director, writer... he scores the music!! The Kid is more drama than slapstick, as the tramp raises an "orphan" and has to deal w/ the authorities.   read more »

Wedding Crashers

Without Christopher Walken, I would give it zero stars. Seeya, Owen. You are done. That's what you get for messing with Steely Dan.

The Gold Rush

This is a great Charlie Chaplin silent film. We watched the version that has Chaplin himself narrating the parts in a sound version, which helped the kids enjoy it. Cold Mountain

Period piece, modern trash. This makes you shun Hollywood for a few Netflix cycles. When you've had enough, go Italian.

Sin City

Hyper violent but incredibly stylish and very well done. Faithfully based on Frank Miller's graphic novels.

Make Mine Music

Very decent Disney Collection centered on music. You will be amazed at what they could do combining live action and animation back in the 1940's. Add another point if you love Donald Duck. We like Mel   read more »
